Our client was unable to view inventory levels across their organization and had no metric for predicting re-order times.

Solution

With a restriction on data streaming, we exported CSVs of the current inventory levels and the sales for the previous six months. We then loaded and cleaned both files in order to blend them together. Once the data was all in one place and prepped, we built out the calculations for the order points and on hand + on order inventory levels. Finally we put all of the data into a dashboard so the user is able to see the levels visualized, filter down to specific product lines, and get a picture of what is on hand as well and on order from the supplier.

Results

With the custom dashboard our client is now able to view their entire inventory, including color coded inventory indicators so they can see which items need to be re-ordered. We also added a re-order calculator so the client easily knows when to order to avoid having dramatic swings in inventory levels.
